Bio
Walt Stanchfield started at Walt Disney Animation Studios in 1949. He eventually started the training program for animators, along with veteran animator and director, Eric Larson. Stanchfield taught weekly drawing classes and gave lectures at the studio until shortly before his death in 2000. The young talent he worked with became prominent in the animation industry, such as Brad Bird, John Lasseter, Joe Ranft, John Musker, Ron Clements, Glen Keane, Andreas Deja, and Mark Henn, among others. A master of the gesture drawing, Stanchfield’s notes and drawing examples have been compiled by producer Don Hahn in a two-volume collection entitled ”Drawn to Life: 20 Golden Years of Disney Master Classes.“
